An Internet Exchange is a physical location where Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Content Delivery Networks connect with each other. They are nearly always located in carrier-neutral data centers, where network operators can collaborate securely via IP Transit or Peering in close proximity to the infrastructure of the exchange. This allows network providers to share their internet traffic outside of their own network in a more neutral, faster, and cheaper manner. This also allows customers of one internet provider to exchange data with another provider. At LCL, we have two: BNIX and NL-IX.
