TIA-942 Rated-3 Facilities Certification - EPI

Our LCL Brussels-South and LCL Wallonia One data centers have achieved the TIA-942 Rated-3 Facilities Certification. TIA stands for Telecommunications Industry Association, a communication infrastructure standard for data centers. Next to the required factors for a robust data center, it also covers the telecommunications part:

  • Architecture (including fire safety, physical security, site location etc.)
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Telecommunications

A TIA-942 Rated-3 facility is a Concurrently Maintainable Site Infrastructure. This means that the data center has redundant capacity components and multiple independent distribution paths serving the computer equipment. Every capacity component, including elements which are part of the distribution path, can be removed/replaced/serviced on a planned basis and still ensure continuity for the digital ecosystem. It has protection against most physical events.

The TIA-942 certification was awarded by EPI, the world’s leading Certification Body for data centers with 35 years of history. EPI is renowned for its expertise on data centers and high-level of professionalism and integrity. EPI audits are performed by fully qualified professionals who hold the ‘lead auditor’ certification amongst other data center certifications and qualifications.

According to Edward van Leent, Chairman & CEO of EPI Group of Companies: “The globally connected digital economy needs secured data centers which are reliable. EPI’s core principle is a full commitment to the highest standard in everything we do to ensure our customers get the highest level of protection.  We are very pleased that LCL shares the same commitment to get the EPI TIA-942 certification.”
