Data ecosystems are environments where organizations can securely exchange data. In these environments, two or more actors (public, private, or both) can come together to exchange data or services in different ways, creating value by collecting and analyzing processed data and information. These data systems help their customers better understand their data in order to make better pricing, operational, and marketing decisions. The term ecosystem is used instead of ‘environment’ because data ecosystems, like real ecosystems, are intended to evolve over time.
