Where many telecom players are expanding and broadening their scope, Verixi deliberately chooses simplification. The Belgian operator focuses on one thing: delivering high-quality connectivity with maximum control and minimal complexity. “We stick to the basics and make sure we do them extremely well,” says Benjamin Kaiser, CTO at Verixi.
Benjamin Kaiser: “Verixi is a Belgian telecom operator and internet service provicer (ISP), fully focused on B2B connectivity. We work with a compact team of 10 to 15 people and deliver high-quality connectivity services to business customers, including some public institutions.”
“At the core of our model is our own fibre backbone. We operate a network of dark fibre, which gives us full control over performance, scalability and service quality. That’s quite unique for a company of our size. On top of that, we interconnect with other providers for technologies like digital subscriber line (DSL), passive optical network (PON) or coax. This allows us to serve a wide range of customers, from smaller companies to larger enterprises.”
“For us, it’s all about control and consistency. Since we operate our own fibre backbone, we control the network end-to-end. When you ‘just get the cable’, you can do whatever you want with it. That flexibility translates directly into performance and reliability. We connect data centers across Belgium and provide services like IP transit, layer 2 connectivity, wavelength services, dark fibre, and both dedicated and broadband internet access.”
“But just as important is what we do not do: we don’t try to sell everything ourselves. We focus on connectivity and rely on an ecosystem of partners for everything else. That keeps things simple for the customer and allows everyone to do what they do best.”
“One of the biggest trends is consolidation. We see larger players acquiring smaller ones across the Belgian telecom market. That reinforces the importance of staying focused. At the same time, demand for capacity keeps increasing. Customers want more bandwidth, but above all they want stability and strong SLAs. We invest a lot in redundancy and diversity in our fibre routes to minimise downtime. That’s where our own infrastructure really makes a difference.”
“AI is also a major trend, but we’re still at the beginning. AI can simplify work and improve efficiency, but it doesn’t replace human expertise. Not in our business. In telecom, customers don’t want a robot answering their calls. They want someone who understands their situation and can act quickly.”
“For us, carrier neutrality is essential. A data center should allow customers to choose their provider and let carriers do their job. LCL understands that well. Of course, power availability and energy management are becoming increasingly important, so data centers need to be strong on those fundamentals. We also appreciate the proximity and the simplicity of working with LCL. The relationship works well and that’s what matters.”
