Along the Brussels Ring, a new landmark has emerged: the new data center at LCL Brussels-North. Not an anonymous block, but a façade that immediately draws the eye through its interplay of lines and light.
By day, you notice a subtle, graphic pattern that shifts with your point of view. Details reveal themselves only when you slow down. As evening falls, light takes over, giving the façade an entirely new presence.
“The design is not instantly recognisable,” says Floris Smits, Chief Projects Officer at LCL. “It leaves room for interpretation and invites you to look at it differently.”
Artists René Pijnenburg and Luk Van Soom, together with designer Béla Szigmond, shaped the creative narrative of the façade. Floris Smits and Pieter Van Haegenbergh, Project Manager for this project, ensured that this narrative became a technical and practical reality.
“The real challenge lies in combining creative ideas with practical execution,” says Pieter Van Haegenbergh. “The result is a design that truly stands on its own.”
The façade is a striking feature in its own right, but it is also a deliberate prelude to what comes next.
During the opening event, you will discover the full concept and experience how the evening setting allows the façade to speak for itself.
