Brussels, 18 November 2025 - LCL, a leading Belgian data center provider, has announced a new partnership with Megaport, an Australian-based global leader in multicloud connectivity. Megaport operates a worldwide ecosystem of data centers, cloud service providers, and network operators. Thanks to this collaboration, Belgian companies using LCL’s services will gain direct, flexible, and secure access to more than 1000 data centers and the world’s leading cloud platforms - in just a few clicks. “This partnership strengthens our position as the main point of presence in Belgium for international cloud connectivity,” says Laurens van Reijen, CEO of LCL.
The collaboration is in response to the growing demand from companies to manage their data and applications flexibly - both on their own infrastructure and in the cloud. Through the Megaport platform, LCL customers can increase their bandwidth on demand and flexibly activate or deactivate connections to other cloud providers.
This is particularly useful for businesses that occasionally require high bandwidth at short notice - such as media companies broadcasting an event - and quickly scale down afterwards. This way, they only pay for what they use, while gaining access to Megaport’s entire global network of data centers and cloud platforms.
The partnership with Megaport illustrates how data centers worldwide must evolve to keep pace with an increasingly digital society.
“Traditional carriers provide a solid foundation for continuous bandwidth though their connections can take weeks or even months to activate. Megaport complements these carrier services by enabling on-demand connectivity that can be provisioned in just a few clicks. This allows us to provide our customers with the speed, flexibility, and control that today’s digital economy demands”, says Laurens van Reijen. “This partnership therefore reinforces our position as the main point of presence in Belgium for international cloud connectivity, and as data center of the future.”
“Through LCL, we’re expanding our footprint in Belgium, leveraging their leadership position in the local market,” adds Mike Jauncey, Channel & Alliances Director Europe at Megaport. “This enables us to increase our scalability - and therefore our success - while offering enhanced multicloud connectivity to customers looking for this type of service in Belgium.”
In addition to scalable bandwidth, Megaport also offers security services that help customers create private and secure communities via the Swiss SCION protocol. This is particularly relevant for financial institutions and media companies that need to exchange data within protected networks. Thanks to the partnership, customers gain greater control over their data traffic and can dynamically manage their cloud environments. This marks an important step toward digital sovereignty, without compromising flexibility.
