First data center in Belgium with ISAE 3000 and ISAE 3402 type II

Diegem, 6 February 2017 - Data center company LCL has obtained the ISAE 3000 and ISAE 3402 type II certificates for its data centers in Diegem and Aalst. This makes LCL the first data center in Belgium to have both reports. The quality reports are an answer to the demand of more and more customers.

The internationally recognized ISAE (International Standard on Assurance Engagements) 3000 and 3402 certificates report on the reliability of internal control measures and the way processes are described. The certificates provide insight into risk management, the quality of underlying processes and information security. ISAE 3000 checks operational management, while ISAE 3402 is also a financial audit, it indicates whether a company is financially sound. ISAE 3402 must comply with ISAE 3000.

In an ISAE 3402 type II report the effective application of the control measures of ISO 27001 for information security is tested during a certain period. The awarding of the certificates thus demonstrates that LCL has effectively complied with ISO 27001 certification throughout the year 2016.

ISAE confirms that you can count on a safe infrastructure and its correct maintenance at LCL. Abdellah Mahlous, Operations Manager at LCL: “The ISAE reports give our customers insight into the reliability and quality of our data center services. We can now show a report to our customers confirming that they are safe with us. For a data center company such as LCL it is in our opinion more important to comply with the operational ISAE 3000 than with the financial ISAE 3402. Nevertheless, customers mainly ask for ISAE 3402.
Deloitte conducted the audit at the beginning of January at LCL. Mahlous explains: “Together with Deloitte, we discussed what we wanted to include in the audit. Unlike an ISO report, there are no specific criteria at ISAE that you must meet. Three aspects were selected: access to the data center (fence, video surveillance, door), incidents and the reporting thereof and maintenance (of the fence, generators, UPSs, etc.). We then supplied the supporting documents for the audit. The report includes how risks are identified and which measures are effectively taken to manage risks and secure information. "

Laurens van Reijen, Managing Director of LCL: “Certifications are quality labels that demonstrate the professionalism of a company. With the two ISAE reports we have an additional confirmation for our customers. We will use Deloitte's results and comments to formulate further improvements and new objectives for this year. In this way we are constantly getting stronger. "
Since 2013, LCL has also received the ISO 27001 certificate for information security and ISO 14001: 2015 for environmental management.
